About Kompunik
A mission-driven company helping people develop the human skills that actually matter at work.
Kompunik is a private company. We chose a .org domain deliberately.
Not to claim institutional authority, nor to blur the line with non-profits — but to reflect what genuinely drives us: a mission before a market.
Help people develop the human skills that actually matter at work — and make them usable, observable, and shareable.
We believe so-called "soft skills" are not soft at all. They are core operating skills for individuals, teams, and organizations.
And they deserve better than vague advice, motivational slogans, or disconnected theory.
Where Kompunik comes from
Kompunik did not start in a lab. It started in real companies, over more than 20 years of professional experience.
Across startups, scale-ups, and established organizations, we kept observing the same patterns:
- Interns and fresh graduates lacked a shared baseline of behavioral expectations
- New joiners struggled to decode implicit norms and unspoken rules
- Experienced professionals repeated the same interpersonal mistakes — often unknowingly
- Managers lacked objective ways to discuss, assess, and support soft-skill development
The result was rarely dramatic — but consistently costly: misunderstandings, friction, disengagement, unfair judgments, and wasted energy.
We documented what actually goes wrong in real situations — and why.
Kompunik's content is built from lived experience: difficult conversations, silent conflicts, missed signals, misaligned expectations, leadership blind spots, and teamwork failures that look trivial — until they aren't.
Those situations were condensed into short, focused audio stories, designed to trigger something essential: your own "aha" moments.
An empirical approach — transparent by design
Kompunik is not academic research. We do not claim scientific validation in the strict sense.
What we do claim — clearly and honestly — is:
- A rigorous empirical approach
- Grounded in two decades of observation
- Continuously refined through real-world use and feedback
Our method evolves as people use it. We observe what resonates, what changes behavior, and what doesn't.
This transparency matters to us. We deliberately choose useful and honest over theoretically perfect and disconnected.
Learning by doing — applied to soft skills
People can spend years reading excellent books on communication, leadership, or emotional intelligence. And yet:
- ≠knowing is not doing
- ≠understanding is not applying
- ≠agreeing is not changing behavior
Kompunik exists to fill that gap.
Soft skills are practiced, not consumed.
That's why Kompunik is built around:
- Concrete situations
- Active reflection
- Short practice loops
- Self-assessment and feedback
- Immediate application in daily work
We don't replace great authors or established theories. We activate them — through experience.
Learning together changes everything
Individual learning matters.
Collective learning multiplies impact.
Compare interpretations
Share lived experiences
Discuss blind spots
Challenge assumptions respectfully
Kompunik is designed to:
- Create a shared language
- Encourage safe exchanges
- Align expectations across people and teams
- Turn learning into a social dynamic — not a solitary effort
This is where insights turn into alignment. And alignment turns into culture.
What Kompunik is not
To be clear, Kompunik is not:
- —Therapy
- —Personality labeling
- —Motivational content
- —A one-size-fits-all training
- —A theoretical or academic course
It is a practical learning environment for human skills — grounded in real situations and respectful of individual differences.
What we believe
Soft skills can be made explicit
Progress can be observed and discussed
Learning should be practical, human, and engaging
Organizations improve when individuals grow
People deserve tools that respect their intelligence and experience
Founder's note
Kompunik was born from a personal frustration.
Over the years, I saw talented people struggle — not because they lacked competence, but because expectations were implicit, feedback was vague, and "soft skills" were discussed only when something went wrong.
I saw people judged on behaviors that were never taught. Managers expected alignment without shared language. Teams suffered from the same misunderstandings — again and again.
What I wished for early in my own career was simple: a way to understand expectations, a way to practice safely, and a way to grow without being labeled or judged.
Kompunik is my attempt to build that missing layer: a Human Operating System people can actually use.
— Joss Gillet, Kompunik Founder
